• What Are The Penny and Quarter Tests?

  There are two quick and easy ways to test the tread on your tires. Using a penny, place the coin in the center of your tire tread with the head facing down. If you can see Abraham Lincoln’s head, it’s a sign that your tires will need to be replaced soon. Or, using a quarter, insert the coin into the tire tread. If you can see George Washington’s head, it’s a sign that you may need new tires.

• How Often Should I Replace My Tires?

  Your tires should be replaced at least every six years. To check the age of your tires, look for the manufacturer’s date on the side wall, which is listed by week and year. For example, if “0121” is printed on the sidewall, the tire was manufactured in the first week of 2021 and should be replaced no later than the first week of 2027. It’s also very important to examine your tires and replace them if they are showing excessive or uneven tread and wear.

• What If I Only Replace 2 Tires?

  Typically, we recommend replacing and installing all four tires at the same time. However, if you can only replace two tires, make sure to have them installed on the rear wheels and rotate the older tires to the front.

• Should I Install All-Season Tires or Snow Tires?

  The weather changes every 15 minutes here in Wyoming and Nebraska. In our climate, all-season tires offer the best of both worlds, providing safety on ice and snow, and better handling and performance on dry surfaces. However, if you travel frequently during the winter, especially in the mountains, snow tires can make a big difference.
